Navigating life's ordinary and extraordinary challenges

build resilience and heal

About Veronica
I provide counselling and psychotherapy for people navigating life's ordinary and extraordinary challenges.

Whether you're overwhelmed by what's happening now or noticing patterns that keep showing up in your life, therapy offers an opportunity to make sense of your experiences, build greater capacity to navigate life's challenges, and move towards a life that feels more connected, meaningful and manageable.

Some people seek support through a current challenge, while others want to explore deeper patterns that continue to influence their lives. Together, we'll determine the pace and direction of therapy based on your goals.

My approach integrates counselling, psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing®, working with both the mind and nervous system to build greater capacity, navigate life's challenges, and support lasting change.
Supporting you
You may be dealing with a specific issue or seeking more general support. I work with people experiencing:

  • Significant life changes
  • Grief and loss
  • Overwhelm
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Difficult relationships
  • Persistent health challenges
  • Unhelpful coping patterns, including drug or alcohol use
  • Childhood, past, or current trauma

My work combines traditional talk therapy with Somatic Experiencing®, a gentle, nervous system-based approach that supports recovery from stress and trauma.

Individual sessions are offered in person from a beautiful room in McKell Park, Darling Point, or online.

Victim Support counselling for approved NSW Victims Support Scheme clients is available in Surry Hills or online.

What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic Experiencing® is a form of somatic therapy that works alongside counselling and psychotherapy. It recognises that our experiences are shaped not only by our thoughts, but also by our nervous system.

Our nervous system is constantly working to protect us. It responds not only to what's happening in the present, but also to what it has learnt from our past experiences. This means our thoughts and our nervous system don't always tell the same story.

Many of us have learnt to ignore, override or disconnect from our nervous system, particularly during periods of stress, trauma or overwhelm. Somatic Experiencing® helps you build awareness of your nervous system by noticing the signals it is sending, understanding what they may mean, and giving you greater choice in how you respond.

As this awareness grows, so too does your capacity to stay present with discomfort, rather than automatically reacting or relying on coping strategies that may no longer serve you. This creates the opportunity to respond differently, allowing your nervous system to learn from new experiences. From this foundation, unresolved experiences can be processed and integrated, reducing the influence they continue to have on your present.

As the nervous system becomes less occupied with protecting against past experiences, many people notice a reduction in symptoms and find they have more energy available for the relationships, work and experiences that matter most to them.

Individual Counselling

Individual sessions held in person in a beautiful room at the heart of McKell Park, Darling Point. Sessions are also offered online for your convenience. A standard session is 50-minutes. For the first session, I like to spend 1.5 hours with a client.

Victim Support Counselling

Victim Support Counselling is available in Surry Hills and online for people approved under the NSW Victims Support Scheme. Counselling provides a safe and supportive space to recover from the impacts of crime, violence, abuse and other traumatic experiences.

Group programs

These psychoeducation groups offer a confidential and respectful place to develop self-awareness, learn and explore skills to better navigate life's challenges. Groups use the benefits of peer-support, personal reflection and guided learning. Groups can be tailored to specific needs as required.

Grief and Loss Support

Exploring the Seasons of Grief is a small group program designed to help people and communities understand and attend well to their grief following change and loss experiences. Seasons for Growth supports connection with others going through similar circumstances, fosters emotional literacy and resilience as a pathway to improved social and emotional wellbeing. These are psychoeducation groups with therapeutic benefits. Subject to funding, groups are offered free of charge in the community.
